Darley Australia has announced a full list of stud fees for its stallions in New South Wales and Victoria for the forthcoming breeding season. The 18-strong roster offers breeders outstanding value across a superb range of bloodlines. Every stallion on the roster is a G1 winner.
Anamoe commences his stud career at Kelvinside in the Hunter Valley at an introductory fee of $121,000 (inc GST). The Horse of the Year elect is the most keenly anticipated stallion prospect in Australia in over a decade. The nine-time G1-winning son of Street Boss is already assured of widespread support from across Australia and New Zealand with leading breeders queueing up to have representation in his first crop.
Above Anamoe on the fee card is Champion Sire Exceed And Excel whose fee remains unchanged at $132,000 (inc GST). With nine stakes horses in his current juvenile crop, Exceed And Excel has enjoyed another phenomenal season on the racetrack and at the sales. In great news for Victoria, Anamoe’s sire Street Boss returns to Northwood Park at a fee of $66,000 (inc GST) following two seasons in NSW. He is joined by Paulele, Godolphin’s good-looking G1 sprinter who, as recently announced, retires to Northwood Park at an introductory fee of $16,500 (inc GST).
Darley’s trio of 2023 freshman yearling sires Too Darn Hot, Blue Point and Microphone led their cohort at the yearling sales with Too Darn Hot the only first-season sire to achieve a million-dollar result. Blue Point led all first-season sires by average, and the progeny of Microphone were snatched up by all the leading stables, the highlight being a $750,000 Magic Millions colt. The three Champion racehorses have unchanged service fees.
A leading first-season sire, Harry Angel’s second-crop yearlings realised up to $400,000 and averaged nearly eight times service fee with 100 per cent clearance rate across all Book 1 offerings. Following the performances of Blue Diamond-placed Stakes winner Arkansaw Kid, Tom Kitten’s last-to-first victory in the Listed Fernhill Stakes and Stretan Angel’s dominant win in the Listed Dequetteville Stakes, Harry Angel’s fee rises to $33,000 (inc GST).
Proven G1 sires Astern ($22,000 inc GST) and Kermadec ($16,500 inc GST) who respectively sired Golden Mile (G1 Caulfield Guineas) and Tuvalu (G1 Toorak Handicap) this season appear to be great value, while Brazen Beau, a top 10 sire by Stakes winners to runners and an emerging success in the lucrative Hong Kong market remains at $44,000 (inc GST).
Other highlights for the coming season include the much-anticipated arrival of the first foals by Palace Pier, Victor Ludorum and Pinatubo as well as the first weanlings offered at public auction by Bivouac, Ghaiyyath and Earthlight.
“We head into the 2023 breeding months with confidence knowing that our stallions are producing the right results at all ends of the market, the Godolphin racing team, powered by the Darley stallions, is enjoying unprecedented success and our teams, be they nominations, stud administration, stallion and marketing teams are operating like well-oiled machines ready for another season,” Godolphin Australia’s Managing Director Vin Cox said.
“On behalf of our teams, it’s a privilege to offer breeders Darley’s 2023 line-up and it’s a responsibility we do not and will not hold lightly.”
