Al Jafara, a three-year-old daughter of Pinatubo, won on her first US start on Saturday, 12 April and in the process earned TDN Rising Star status. Running on the turf at Keeneland, she swept to the front in the straight to win going away.
Previously trained in France last season, she had won her second start before selling for €250,000 at Arqana’s Arc Sale.
Bred by V I Araci, she is out of the Fastnet Rock mare Predawn, who hails from the extended family of Oaks winner Qualify and recent G3 hero Caulificar. Predawn also has a juvenile colt by Too Darn Hot.
Pinatubo has a number of impressive three-year-olds in his first crop including Jumeirah Guineas Trial winner Hallasan, unbeaten French filly Pinatique, and Lingfield winner Diablo Rojo, who was fourth yesterday in the G3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury.
