Lava Stream, a first-crop daughter of Too Darn Hot, won her first Stakes race when taking the Listed Agnes Keyser Fillies’ Stakes at Goodwood. Quickening well inside the final furlong, she collared the long-time leader Bolsena, a half-sister to Triple Time, near to the finish to win by a neck.
Owned and bred by Elwick Stud, Lava Stream is the second winner bred out of the winning Mastercraftsman mare Stream Song, who is herself a half-sister to three Group winners by Dubawi including Champion stayer Journey.
Too Darn Hot has now sired seven first-crop Stakes winners including two that have won Classics this season. They are headed by Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Fallen Angel who won her Classic on the same weekend as Darnation won the German equivalent. Too Darn Hot is also the leading first-crop sire in Australia with G1 hero Broadsiding his flag bearer.
